I don’t know. Maybe a changelog for this site is a bit much. I’m absolutely not a 10x-engineer-developer-genius-scientist, but… I thought this might be a fun exercise. So version one—something I’ve wanted to make for a really long time.
I originally started building this site with Hugo. While Hugo is an enormously capable (and fast) static site generator, I eventually switched to Zach Leatherman’s Eleventy and haven’t looked back. I really like Eleventy, and Zach and the community are truly special. The fonts on this site are served by Adobe Fonts, and the site itself is hosted on Netlify.
I guess it could be said that the markup, styles, and scripts of this website are “handcrafted,” but it’s most definitely a work in progress with tons of issues and brokenness. I hope to improve this site as I learn and grow in the fine art and science of modern web development (heh). Eventually, I also hope to have the source available on GitHub for examination, but right now it’s… best to not further embarrass myself.
I have a soft spot for software release names, and I’ve always wanted to name a release. While pondering several sentimental names for version 1.0, I ultimately decided that “panda” might be a fun fit.
So this is Version 1.0 Panda. Enjoy!
